Wishing I had more to report

Seeing as how Mrs Speedy beat me to the punch and my internet access out here has been hit and miss sadly I dont have much goings on to relay. The stop in Turkey was by far the best thing that has happened since I left sunny Claifornia. Getting to see my love was an absolutely amazing surprise. One I will not soon forget that is for sure. Since leaving my heart at Incirlik I arrived on station and completed the inprocessing hullabaloo and have flown twice before a member of my hard crew became ill. Being out of commission as a crew for the past couple days has shown me how badly I want to fly, even if it means long days at least it is something to do. Boredom can be our worst enemy at times. It is good for getting into shape however lol. I have hit the gym 5 out of the last 6 days and am finding myself settling into a decent routine. More to come, hopefully with pics that I can show. Until next time...

Mr Speedbird, over and out.

A surprise and a half!

God sure does work in mysterious ways.

On the 6th of April, a KC-10 was flying on its way to his deployment location to set up 3 crews for their cycle.  Unfortunately, a passenger on board, after having slept much of the 13 hours thus far, tried to get up to go to the lavatory and in turn as he was standing up, fell over face first to the ground.  Luckily, a med tech was on board and took very basic vital information.  The crew decided that they would declare an in flight emergency and divert to another airfield along the way to ensure that the passenger got better looked at.  The location they just happened to be closest to was Incirlik.  And one of the crewmembers on board just happened to be my hubby!  And I just happened to be in between flights that day and was in my room when I got a phone call that afternoon from him!  Needless to say much more, I got to spend the rest of that glorious day with mr speedbird.  What an amazing surprise!!!!!!

Maybe God was trying to give us our due goodbyes that we missed on each of our departure dates.  He was set to fly on my deployment day so I couldn't be with him when everyone else had their significant others.  And I was already deployed when he left for his.  And, this short time we had was the first spent in another country together (something we'd wanted to do since we started dating).  Or, maybe it was just plain luck.

Not even halfway through the deployment and I have definitely experienced the highlight of it.
